The SRHR Africa Trust (SAT) Zambia, in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) wished to acknowledge and award young leaders for their outstanding contribution to adolescent activism and leadership. The second Zambia Adolescent Activism and Innovation Awards in Health were held on Wednesday 28th March, 2018.
The need to promote healthy behaviors during adolescence, and being proactive in protecting adolescents from health risks including increasing opportunities for them to access preventive health services and commodities are important in ensuring a healthier generation of young people and a more productive adulthood. Within the health platform, leadership by adolescents and young people for their own health is central to sustainable community and national health promotional efforts. Recognizing the efforts and encouraging the youth to take an active part in the realisation of their own health and rights is key in attaining meaningful youth participation in development.
