SAT is registered in South Africa as a non-profit (Section 21) company with a clear link to the national offices. SAT country offices are registered locally in each of the five operating countries - Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The types of registration differ in each country to maximise the benefits of local legislation as articulated in SAT policy documents.
