Acomuza (Community Association of women in Zavala)

Has impowered women in Zavala District through economic activities such as salt mining, agriculture and fishing. Over the years, the organisation has also successfully mainstreamed HIV and AIDS in its economic projects and community development

Promoted the mainstreaming of HIV in the agricultural sector linking HIV/AIDS to food security;  mobilised the community to systematically address issues of HIV and AIDS.

Ajudeco - Youth Community Organisation

Youth community association, 70 Kms from Inharrime district, established in 2002. Ajudeco grow vegetables and keep bees as income generation activity, which supports PLWHA and CABA financially and with nutrition, they also provide counselling and home-based care. There are 40 members with a president, deputy president, secretary, bookkepeerand fiscal council all elected by the community.

Arrepacho, Agrarian Association for the Reduction of Absolute

Arrepacho is now a registered organisation; Promoted the mainstreaming of HIV in the agricultural sector linking HIV/AIDS to food security; mobilised the community to systematically address issues of HIV/AIDS.

Bassopisso, Association for Community Development

Bassopisso now has a comprehensive programme, which includes home care, orphan care, peer education and it is also working with the military forces.

IHLULILE-(we won) PLWHA support group in Matola City

EC, AD

Has been providing support for 105 PLWHA in Matola in partnership with other CBOs such as Kindlimuka. It has also started income generation activities for the benefit of its members and it has successful lobbied for free transport Matola City Council for its sick members to local health centres, and has also successfully lobbied Libombo Diocese and Saint Estevao Parish for them to provide training in HIV and AIDS related topics.

Iniciativa Betania Africa

IBA is now a registered organisation; mainstreamed HIV and AIDS into the Catholic Church and the surrounding community.

Kindlimuka, PLWHA Support Group

Developed procedures for monitoring systems and asset management (now have a new accounting system); Provided mentoring support to other PLWHA groups e.g. Kuvumbana;    nested Rensida; documented the organisation�s income generation project.

Kuyakana PLWHA Women Support Group

Strenghtened community awareness on gender and HIV and AIDS issues. Advocated for non-discriminatory policies in collaboration with other PLWHA support groups.

Kuvumbana, PLWHA Support Group

Kuvumbana is now a registered organisation and now offers a  comprehensive programme in response to community needs e.g. the food supplement programme; managed to set up a  PLWHA group that is countrywide.

Lado Lado, Community Based Organisation

Lado Lado is now a registered organisation; successfully mobilised commercial sex workers for income generation using lessons learnt from Faraja in Tanzania

MATRAM

AD, NET, O

MATRAM is a social movement composed of individuals and affiliated organisations, from the three national economical regions (centre, north and south) of Mozambique, to accelerate and monitor governement's role in providing treatment. It is governed by an executive committee, elected by the members and is in process of registration. MATRAM is supported technically by Treatment Aids Campaign (South Africa), and at country level is collaborating with Monaso and Rensida.

Missionary Sisters of St. Carlos Borromeo

From managing an orphanage of 50 boys the organisation is   now supporting vulnerable children from the community.  The organisation was appointed by the local authorities to reunite illegal immigrants repatriated from South Africa with their families.

Mozambican Network of AIDS Services Organisations� MONASO

Strengthened its ability in the dissemination of information and the coordination of civil society�s response to HIV and AIDS; running a national campaign on the protection of human rights for PLWHAs in collaboration with RENSIDA.

Ntwanano Community Group for Development

Mobilised the communities and strengthen awareness, solidarity and exchange of HIV and AIDS awareness and development skills between community members.

Pedalar, Women Community Group

Pedalar is now a registered organisation; introduced a comprehensive programme in response to community needs. 

Rede Nacional de SIDA � RENSIDA

RENSIDA has set up support systems for asset management and human resource management; production of a newsletter and magazine on HIV and AIDS issues; dissemination and co-ordination of information amongst PLWHA groups in Mozambique; running a national campaign on the protection of human rights for PLWHA in collaboration with MONASO.

Scripture Union (Uniao Biblica)

Incorporated VCT within programmes and established a good networking alliance to provide clients with treatment through partner organisations.

Tchavelela, PLWHA Support Group

Tchavelela is now a registered organisation;The organisation now offers holistic support to PLWHAs and vulnerable groups in the community; managed to set up initial systems that would support their work e.g. annual workplans

Tivikele

Tivikele is a community youth organisationserving the youth of Inharrine through theatre, seminars, workshops, counselling and home-based care. It has developed statutes, an internal handbook, elected a board, fiscal council and an executive committee.

Uronga

Women subsistence and collective farmers in the Inhambane province that provide counselling, advice on nutrition, cooking, prevention and educational assistance to PLWHA and OVC

Vicodemo Community Vision for the Development of Mozambique

Has included farming and establishment of community protected water wells in 23 villages in and around Mavhulula area in the south of Inhambane province. From 2003, the organization has been supporting orphans and carrying out HIV and AIDS education in 9 out of the 23 villages.

Vontade, Women Association for Sustainable Development

Vontade is now a registered organisation that has set up holistic programmes in response to community needs including   empowerment of women; managed to set up initial systems that would support their work
