Making resources work for communities through increased HIV and AIDS competence

Based on the concept of South-to-South knowledge strengthening and experience sharing, School Without Walls (SWW) is the core capacity development service centre for SATs partner networks.  This means that knowledge and expertise are contextualised and ‘owned’ by and within the regional community.

The primary principle of SWW is Multi-Sectoral Learning and Development through innovative and tested means that harnesses communities HIV and AIDS competence.

The SWW unit acts as a coordinating body that provides technical input to SWW events and activities. The methodologies used for capacity development include:

·         Skills Training Workshops

·         Lessons Sharing Conferences

·         Study Visits

·         Mentoring Relationships

·         Coaching

·         Exchange Visits occasionally providing Capacity Development and Project Management support to their similar organisations.

Needs assessments are conducted regularly and skills training is provided by professional facilitators using carefully selected training material. 

SWW works in close collaboration with other SAT units such as Communications and Publications, Monitoring and Evaluation and Finance.
