SAT Malawi

Southern African AIDS Trust (SAT) Malawi exists to facilitate and strengthen community HIV and AIDS competence by building capacities of community based organisations and NGOs to develop and manage effective and sustainable responses to HIV and AIDS.

SAT Malawi began its operations in Malawi in 1991 as part of the Southern African AIDS trust family operational in five other Southern African countries.

Priority areas: 

In line with the National HIV and AIDS Action Framework, SAT Malawi has the following priority areas of focus:

  • HIV/AIDS prevention and behavior change: - HTC, PMTCT, TB integration, youth and women.
  • Treatment, care and support: - HBC, palliative care, ART literacy and HIV management
  • Impact mitigation: - OVC and PLWHIV support.
  • Mainstreaming, partnerships and capacity building: - gender mainstreaming, capacity build of CBOs and their coordination.
  • Building competence in HIV and AIDS advocacy to ensure that community voices are heard and that national policies respond to community needs.
