Guidelines for counselling men who have sex with men

These guidelines focus on men who have sex with men.

As a counsellor it is important to:

• Understand that sex between men is not a 'new fashion' that has been brought in from other, western cultures
• Do some basic research about history of sex between men in your culture and the words that are currently used by your community
• Talk tomen who are open about having sex with men and find out how they understand themselves as sexual beings.
