UN AIDS Reports

  • The HIV/ AIDS epidemic continues to exert untold misery on Batswana’s well being despite our multi‐sectoral, multi‐level response efforts.

  • Malawi continues to register significant progress in the national response to HIV as evidenced by results highlighted in this report.

  • Since the last report, Mozambique has shown positive progress as a result of Government commitment and the support of its cooperation partners in collaboration with different sectors of society.

  • HIV and AIDS in Tanzania is a generalized epidemic. By early 2008 it was estimated that 1.3 million people including adult and children in Tanzania mainland were living with HIV and 10% are children (below18 yrs).

  • In 2009, 14.3 per cent of Zambia’s estimated 12.9 million population was infected with HIV. Zambia is seventh among the countries experiencing the effects of a mature and generalised hyper-endemic.

  • Zimbabwe is one of the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa that have been worst affected by the HIV and AIDS epidemic with a projected population of 12 million people.
