The HIV/ AIDS epidemic continues to exert untold misery on Batswana’s well being despite our multi‐sectoral, multi‐level response efforts.
Malawi continues to register significant progress in the national response to HIV as evidenced by results highlighted in this report.
Since the last report, Mozambique has shown positive progress as a result of Government commitment and the support of its cooperation partners in collaboration with different sectors of society.
HIV and AIDS in Tanzania is a generalized epidemic. By early 2008 it was estimated that 1.3 million people including adult and children in Tanzania mainland were living with HIV and 10% are children (below18 yrs).
In 2009, 14.3 per cent of Zambia’s estimated 12.9 million population was infected with HIV. Zambia is seventh among the countries experiencing the effects of a mature and generalised hyper-endemic.
Zimbabwe is one of the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa that have been worst affected by the HIV and AIDS epidemic with a projected population of 12 million people.
